Craig & Megan are FUN

So sometimes couples try to get out of engagement sessions. I totally get it, I hate being in front of the camera too. But I stress the importance of being comfortable with me, my style and my camera prior to a wedding day to my couples. I feel strongly that an engagement session is the perfect way to get all that awkwardness out of the way, so once the big day comes we are all ready to go. Also, engagement sessions are just fun. They are bonus images, they are usually way more casual and we all end up laughing by the end. I love getting to know my clients, and having them get to know me, so well, I make them do engagement sessions. 😉

If people are still nervous after my spiel I offer to meet them for a drink prior. That is exactly what I did with Megan & Craig. We met at this great bar on Alberta St. in NE Portland. I knew the street would be the perfect backdrop for this creative & colorful couple. After a taco (or two) and a few drinks we set out to take some fun images on a warm early summer evening. I have to say I really like these two. They are funny, smart & we ended up with tons in common. Even a few names in common way back from my days working in the non-profit world. Walking around Alberta we found some great art, an amazing burnt out house, and even ran into people we knew along the way. I had tons of fun at this session, and I hope that shows in the images.

Craig & Megan thanks again for letting me convince you to do engagement photos. I had so much fun getting to know you guys. I am really looking forward to your wedding next month! I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek. I am almost done with the entire set. For now I would love to throw down a blog challenge. I do this for all of my new clients. If you can get 30 people to comment on this blog post, I will throw in an 11×14 mounted wall print on the house. So leave some love folks.

She caught her self a good one!

Megan & Mitch first found me through a photographer friend of mine. She was already booked for their wedding date, and as we often to she wanted to refer them on to someone who she thought would be a good fit. She had previously worked with the family and was really hesitant to pass them off. Her email to me talked about how wonderful this couple was, how big their hearts were, and how great the entire family was. My friend, the other photographer literally gushed about these two.  Once I finally got a chance to meet these two lovebirds I totally got it. They are adorable, sweet and extremely kind. Megan’s smile & laughter is infectious, and the way Mitch looks at Megan melts my heart. So when the time came around to do engagement photos I was excited to capture these two with my camera. Megan had big plans for our session, she wanted to include of of Mitch’s great loves (fishing) into her theme. So we hiked down to the river bank in the Tillamook National Forest and made some fun images. Megan is so crafty, she even brought props including an adorable hand sewn fish! For real, I adore these two.

On to the images!

Megan & Mitch I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek. I just loved getting to know you two better. I will have the whole gallery done here for you shortly. For now I would love to offer you a blog post challenge. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post I will throw in an 11×14 wall print on the house! So leave some love for this adorable couple people.

Darling Aurelia

I love my job, one of the reasons I love it is getting to meet new & interesting people. I always have fun chatting up families or couples and getting to know what makes them tick. That said it is also incredibly lovely to capture dear friends of mine at special times in their lives. Just a few weeks ago it was my pleasure to capture my dear friends Sarah & Jesus with their brand new baby girl Aurelia. You might remember their maternity session on the blog here. I have been patiently waiting for this day for some time now, Sarah is one of the most naturally nurturing people I have ever known, so to capture her as a mama was such a blessing for me. She and Jesus are utterly, over the moon in love with their little darling. And for good reason, she is absolutely beautiful!

Here are a few of the images from our session…

Sarah & Jesus thanks again for trusting me to capture this special time in your life. I am so over the moon happy for both of you. Little lady A is such a lucky girl to have you two as parents. I am so looking forward to our kids playing together (S is already volunteering to baby sit) and watching your girl grow up. I hope you liked your sneak peek, I will have the whole set done shortly.

Sarah + Michael = love

Meet Sarah & Michael…

They are smart, funny, witty & kind. They both have lovely warm smiles, and big hearts. They are also both prone to teasing & pulling pranks.

In short they are my kind of couple.

These two will be tying the knot this summer at the beautiful Balch Hotel in the Columbia River Gorge. I am so excited to capture the big event! It should be a fun day. Since the hotel is in such a scenic small town area, we thought it would be fun to do something really different for the engagement photos. We headed to the east side esplanade to capture Portland downtown & some of the river front. We actually ended up walking one of Michaels’s favorite running spots. We had a great time walking the path, and grabbing some fun photos before the rain set in. Oh Oregon springs!

Here are a few of my favorites from our session together.

Sarah & Michael thanks again for meeting up with me and dealing with the back and fourth weather. I am so pleased we risked it. 🙂 I had a great time getting to know you two more. I am super excited to capture your big day this summer! For now I would love to offer you a little blog challenge. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post I will throw in an 11×14 print on the house. I am thinking a big print of that bridge shot would be stunning, just sayen. 😉

So leave some love people!

Xander is 3!

There are no arguments to be made, Xander is one of the coolest little kids in all of the Portland Metro area. He just is, deal with it. With a super star Daddy & Talented Diva for a Mama it is just meant to be. So what do you do when a super cool kid turns 3? You rent a crazy huge inflate-able castle and rock out of course. I have been lucky enough to work with Daria, Dallas & little Xander for the past few years on belly, baby & kiddo photos. So it was fun to come back this year and capture the little dude’s birthday party. It was a fun event filled with bright colors, super heroes and of course lots of bouncing.

Here are a few of my favorites:

Daria & Dallas thanks again for having me out to capture the big party. You guys really know how to throw a bash. Clearly the little guy was pretty happy with the whole set up. 🙂

I will have the whole set done soon, hope you all are enjoying your summer!
