welcome to the world Pearl!

Back in 2010 I had the great honor of capturing the birth of one darling Wellington Rupp. It was an intensely emotional and beautiful experience that really was my pleasure to capture. Since then I have had a chance to witness and photograph a few births, but I have to say Welly will always have a special place in my heart. I also got to capture him as a newborn and 1 year old. He is such a cutie. And of course his Dad is a super talented photographer & good friend who I have been lucky enough to work with a few times. Bryan & Leah are two of the kindest and most giving individuals I know, so I was honored when they asked me to capture they birth of their second child Pearl.

This time around the plan was to bring Pearl into the world at home. As we all know the best made plans sometimes change, and miss Pearl ended up making her entrance at the local hospital. While I missed part of the excitement, seeing her meet her big brother for the first time melted me. I just adore this family, and felt so privileged to be there to watch them grow

Bryan & Leah thanks again for inviting me into your home to capture your darling baby girl. I know that night was a bit different than planned, but it was an honor to witness such a special time in your family’s life.

Mandy, Melissa & a beautiful belly!

I. Love. Melissa & Mandy.

I do, they are sweet, kind and endlessly loving.

I can not WAIT to see them as parents.

It seems like just yesterday I was shooting their engagement session. I also loved capturing their wedding just a few years ago. When these ladies contacted me a few months back to arrange a maternity session I was beyond thrilled for them. Inside that beautiful belly is one lucky baby! We had such a great time catching up, talking about birth & babies, and hanging out.

Here are a few of my favorites from our session together. (Also first session started in the new studio!)

Melissa & Mandy I am so thrilled for you guys. I can not wait to meet your little one, and capture you all as a family. I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek. I will have the whole set for you very soon.

I totally made them to it…

So if you are a current or former wedding client of mine you know the spiel.

I think all couples should have an engagement session with their photographer before the wedding. Not just for the bonus images, but to get to know each-other. Getting photographed is awkward, getting photographed by someone you do not already know is awkward, and lets face it, smooching on camera is awkward. So why would you want to do that for the first time on your wedding day? No, you really don’t! That’s why I make (ok not by force but close) all of my couples do a pre-wedding session with me. Some are excited, and some are not, but I promise I always make it fun, and can totally be talked into a stiff drink prior to breaking out the camera. 😉

I really do feel that it makes working together on your wedding day a much easier experience.

My most recent forced session (I kid, kinda) was Kimberlie & Russ. These two are smart, charming, funny, good looking and a pleasure to capture. Even if they really did not want to do it, by the end of the session we were all laughing. I think the stiff drinks, and inappropriate stuffed toys helped. These two lovebirds wanted to stick  close to home so we hung out in the Mississippi area of NE Portland for the session. Dodging the rain and making images.

Here are a few of my favorites from our session…

K & R thanks again for laughing at my dumb jokes, and allowing me to stick a camera in your face. I had a great time getting to know you two better, and seeing your “hood”. A little disappointed there was no crime fighting, but there is always the wedding day.  I hope you enjoyed the sneak peek. I am nearly done with the whole set for you. For now I would love to throw down a little blog post challenge. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post I will throw in an 11×14 wall hanging on the house.

So leave some love people!

Jen, Clay & baby Maybe

I love it when worlds collide. Jen started contacting me after she saw my darling little sister’s maternity photos this past summer. After chatting for a while we set up a shoot on a warm spring evening in the hills above our homes. After chatting with her and Clay a bit we figured out we actually knew quite a bit of the same people. My sister, old friends from summer camp and even a former mentor, it really is a small small world! It was a great evening, and I am so happy with the images we created. Even if we did have to dodge teens making out, and a few not so cared for trails on our hike.

Here are a few of my many favorites…

Jen and Clay thanks again for being up for anything! I had a great time capturing you two, and baby “maybe” (the real name is a secret!) I hope you enjoyed your sneak peek. I am very much looking forward to meeting your little lady when the time comes. 🙂
