    Completely Out of Order

    You might remember not too long ago a wonderful couple named Coral and Ben. I did post about them here not once but twice ;)

    Coral and Ben are from the Midwest so doing a traditional pre wedding engagement session was not an option so we decided to spend some time together at their rehearsal dinner. Or to be more specific their lake side rehearsal BBQ. Coral and Ben had people coming in from all over the country so the BBQ was kind of a pre wedding party. We had tons of fun.  These two are just fun in what ever they do. I just finished the couples album (woo hoo!) so I thought I would dig back into the images from their BBQ and show a few of my favs here.

    Coral & Ben had their rehearsal BBQ at a beautiful state park. It was perfect, not too hot or too cold. It was also very conveniently close to my home. ;)

    This is Coral’s super cute grandma and a cousin or uncle I think. They were all so sweet.

    This is Coral’s niece or as I like to call her the “Toddler Whisperer” the kids flocked to her it was so cute.

    Our super fun bride, her bride’s maids, a flower girl and a few other cute girls thrown in for fun! Ahhh I love making people jump.

    A beautiful little cousin I believe. I am not sure if this cutie is from the Bride’s or Groom’s side, but I fell in love with her curls blowing in the wind in this one.  If her Mom or Dad happen to read this post please do email me. :)

    Danny our groom’s sister. The kids also love her. I actually have a few more of them a little while later dog piling her!

    Ben our groom and his soon to be brother in law planned a golf tournament for all the guys prior to the wedding. Here they are handing out the awards. :) They were so funny. I am sure being on the course with them was fun.

    And here are all the “golf boys”

    And of course I had to drag the cute couple down to the lakeside for a few photos of just the two of them.

    I remember looking at these the night before the wedding and getting even more excited to photograph their big day. They are just so beautiful together!

    The whole gallery will be online in the next few days in your gallery. Just look for the new “rehearsal” section.

    Beautiful Wedding in North Portland, OR {Megan & Becca’s sneak peek}

    I love meeting new people in this job, but it is also really fun to work with friends. I have known Megan for a little while and when she asked me to capture her and Becca’s big day I was honored. I knew from the get go that it would be a fun one. Megan and Becca are a super sweet couple that planned every little detail of their wedding out perfectly.  The day was full of family which I love. Both families read the the ceremony and had special tributes through out the day. In fact I am pretty sure I saw both of the bride’s parents cutting it up on the dace floor. The whole event wedding and reception was held at the Historic Overlook House in North Portland. A great venue for the more intimate Urban wedding.

    So here are a few of my favorites so far, too many to choose from with this fun wedding!

    The ceremony was beautiful, their Paster was a trooper making the big day even though she was sick.

    The happy couple. Just look at those smiles.

    I loved that they were up for using the urban surroundings. The venue was near the train yard as you can tell, I love all those different colored trains in the distance.

    The one especially makes me smile, they are so perfect together.

    All the food was great. I have to say I eat at allot of weddings but this one was especially good. The cake was delicious too.

    The first dance.

    Yay for dancing, I loved the play list they set up. Lots of the songs brought back memories from my high school days. I am sure I looked like a dork singing along as I shot these!

    The venue also had some great areas for the kids to play in can you tell!

    And of course I had a to take a few of the kids in attendance. I love getting cute kids and weddings, I can not help my self.

    Becca and Megan I truly had a great time with the two of you and your awesome family and friends. I can not wait to show you the whole set! I wish you all the  happiness in the world in your marriage.  You both deserve it, thanks again for letting me be a part of your special day.

    All the family and friends reading this, be sure to leave a comment on this post if you would like to see the whole set when it is ready later in the month! I will let you all know when the whole gallery is up.

    Location, Location, Location

    A little over a month ago I had the pleasure of attending a get together with some other Portland area Children’s Photographers. Fun ladies for sure. We all belong to the same photography forum and try to help each other our from time to time. I just love working with other photographers. I think it is the best way to learn and stretch my self as an artist to be surrounded by so many creative people.

    So in the beginning of June we trekked out to a random location one of the ladies knew of and took some really fun photos.

    This location is not your normal family setting. I just love all the graffiti and wild colors. I am pretty sure all the skater kids that usually rule the area thought we were all crazy taking our small children out there. But we are all geeks that love to find those out there crazy places, even if we do have to dodge skate boards and construction to get the shot.

    No really here are a few of me in action another photographer friend took of me.

    I am not sure if this is a location I would take a client to, as it is pretty rough but I do LOVE the non traditional. If you or someone you know is looking for some FUN and non traditional family or kids portraits call me soon. My summer schedule is starting to fill up, but I am always up for that next cool location. As a Family and Kids photographer in the Portland area I know there are even more great spots out there. If you have a great spot let me know! If it is really great I might even throw in a free 10×13 with a booked session to the client (new or returning) who lets me in on the secret. It does not have to be a graffiti covered wall, it can be a cool mural in a back ally, a building with some great stained glass, or even a over look of the perfect view of a city. So email or call me today, if I love the location it just might be the back drop of your next wall hanging! Happy location hunting!

    Happy Strappy {Photography Geekyness}

    We are deep into the busy season here at emily g photography and it has been great. I have loved meeting all the new little ones and witnessing some amazing weddings. Every once in a while a photographer has to splurge a little and get something pretty. I usually stash my earnings away for sparkly new lenses or other photography equipment but at a photographer gathering the other day I noticed a photography accessory I just had to have.

    Check out my new camera strap!

    I know I am a nerd but little things like this make me happy! Amy Priddy of Priddy creations is fantastic! you can find her super fun camera straps here on etsy.com, or on her blog here. I did asked for a custom design to work with my business colors and she gave me loads of great choices! The camera strap cover is padded and I know it will come in handy during a long day of shooting. I can not wait to try it out this weekend with my back to back wedding and engagement session. I can not say enough nice things about Amy and my new comfy strap. If you visit her site let her know who sent you. :)

    Have a great day guys!
