engagement and couples sessions

Mary + Sara = Love

The week before last I had the chance to meet up with one of my lovely September wedding couples. Mary & Sara wanted to get some engagement photos in some of their favorite Portland spots before the big day. We had  great time tromping through the trees in Mt. Tabor park and then on the busy streets of Hawthorne Blvd. These two were sweet, funny and an all around treat to point my camera at. I am really looking forward to the wedding next month at the Portland Rose Gardens and the Zoo! Yes that is right the Zoo! Super excited for that part, yes I am a big kid I know. :)

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

Mt Tabor has these beautiful stands of old trees just perfect with a little sunset light and happy couple.

See I told you they were adorable.

:)

After our time at the park we headed down to the busy streets of Hawthorne Blvd, I love Hawthorne, lots of art, murals and bright colors.

I just had to use this mural with the heart on top it was too perfect not too.

Clearly there is no shortage of love between these two.

Purple for Sara!

Orange for Mary!

Mary & Sara thanks again for your flexibility and for tromping around Portland with me. I have a lovely time getting to know you two better. I am really looking forward to your wedding just a few short weeks away! As usually I would love to throw down a blog challenge for new clients. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post there is an 11×14 in it for you. :)

Amber & Brady Love

Amber and Brady are one of the first couples I ever pointed a camera at. As friends & family they let me use them in my portfolio a million years ago and it is still one of my favorite sessions to date. Well this beautiful couple is back. The current session a gift from their Realtor to celebrate the new home and new stage of life they are in. It also happens to coincide with their 3rd wedding anniversary and an extra big week. So to celebrate we stomped out to the wildflower covered field behind their new home and took some beautiful photos.

Here are a few of my many, many favorites so far:

They were up for anything, it was so fun to shoot these!

The light was nothing short of perfection that night.

I love it when a couple looks at each other like this, it just makes me smile.

We wanted to tell a story with these photos, these two are very symbolic of the work they are doing on their home & family right now.

Brady also had to give me some attitude, while being adorable and dashing too of course.

The wildflowers even got some close-ups that night.

Brady was such a sport, he is actually nursing 2 broke ribs right now!

:) Amber & Brady thanks for being such spots and up for anything! I love you love these as much as i do. This session was so much fun! I am so lucky to have you two as family, you know I love and adore both of you. I love the new house, and can not wait to see all you do to fill it up. Sending you lots of love this week as I know it is a special one.

Melissa + Mandy = Love

Melissa & Mandy are one of those couples you just have to love. Upon our first meeting I felt instantly  connected excited about their wedding. They exude warmth and welcome. Two lovely ladies that are so clearly in love it was a joy to photograph them. For their engagement session we went up to the Multnomah Village area of Portland. The two currently live here, and Mandy has deep roots in the neighborhood.  We had a great time walking around that warm evening and making some great photos.

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

See how could you not smile back.

Mandy’s  roots in Multnomah Village rungs deep, her grand parents used to own a dental office in this building many years ago.

These two are so fun, and so relaxed with each other.

We also visited the cool old recreation center. Such great light there.

:)

After a while on the main drag we ran down to Gabriel Park for a while, the walking trails were beautiful.

Is there anything better than a sweat couple in the sunset light, I think not.

And one last photo of our happy couple.

Melissa & Many thanks again for having me out to your stomping ground. I had a great time getting to know you both better and hearing more about your big day. Just a few weeks away! Of course as new clinets I like to thrown down the blog challenge. If you can get 25 people to comment on this little blog post i will throw in an 11×14 wall print on the house.

So leave some love people!
