a little peek of a brand new family session

Jaxon is 2!

I know I say it all the time, but one of the best things about my job is watching little ones grow right before my lens. I have been photographing this little guy since he was just a cute belly bump. Then I got to meet him as a newborn, toddler and now full fledged little boy! Jaxon has stolen my heart for sure. He is sweet, smart, funny and has hands down the best little dude hair ever.

He came up to visit me in Newberg last weekend and we had a great time running around the George Fox campus. The same place in fact I did his Mom & Dad’s maternity photos a few years back!

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

such a hansom little man! I love his goofy faces too. Mama was very clear we had to capture the scrunched up nose. :)

I just adore this whole family. Such lovely folks!

seriously, his hair is just amazing. I also love his hazel eyes. The sun caught them just perfectly here.

Goofy boy!

how cute are they!

J man loved the stairs too! Kept Mom & Dad running the whole session.

he was also stoked we let him go to town in the puddles. I loved his little dinosaur boots!

and one last smile. Gah he melts me with that smile. :)

Julie & Vince thanks again for trekking all the way up to Newberg for our session. It was wonderful seeing you all again and hanging with your super cool little man. I also have to thank you again for the wicked cool baby gift. My little dude will proudly wear the converse when his feet get big enough (I will post photos, they hooked me up with the cutest baby shoes!). I hope you love the peek so far, much more in the gallery soon!

Baby S is One!

You remember this charming little dude from the summer right? Well over the past few months baby S has turned into less of a baby and more of a little boy. Still over the top cute, he is now also incredibly charming and fast! He was keeping on my toes for sure this past weekend while we ran around taking photos at McMennamin’s Kennedy School in NE Portland.  It was great to see the whole family, hear about their amazing trip to Turkey this past fall and just hang out.

Check out a few of my favorite’s so far:

Gah that smile kills me, such a charmer!

he is also very much MOBILE, a fast crawler this one.

and so happy, especially when he has his favorite toy the soccer ball near by.  Boy is going to be the next Beckam no doubt about it.

We had fun with the whole family, clearly he is a very loved little dude.

Don’t forget his BFF grandma! These two were adorable together.

:)

Have I mentioned his smile is to die for? Such a charmer!

Again with the soccer ball. I think this one might be my favorite of the set. His eyes are just so stunning here.

And one last photo of the entire family. Such lovely people.

Jessica thanks again for meeting up for photos with little S and the whole family. I am so loving watching him grow up in front of the lens! He is just a darling little man! I hope you have a wonderful winter & spring, I look forward to hanging out with you all again this summer. I am sure by then he will be full on running, it will be a fun one for sure.

Mr. Charming is ONE!

I have been working with Mr. Charming and his family for a while now. It is always so amazing to see the little ones grow right in front of my lens. Well this last weekend I had the pleasure of meeting up with the family once again to celebrate the little man’s first birthday! I know I say it all the time, but seriously this kid just gets more and more adorable. Keeping me running the whole session and up and down the stairs more than a few times. Really with a smile like his, how could I not love every single moment. :)

his new big boy smile kills me, I just wanted to eat him up he is so sweet!

and so big now! walking and running around the house. No more baby crawling for this little man.

he might be on his way to big boy status, but he still has time to love on daddy.

and snuggles for mama too, even if it was just a super quick stop.

so much love here. :)

including love for the STAIRS! little man loves to climb the stairs, I just had to get a few of him in action. Buddy is fast too!

and one last photo of the whole family. Love, laughs and more love would really sum it up.

Big boy N happy birthday to you little man! I had an amazing year watching you grow! I can not wait to see you again this summer and see how big you can get! I hope you had lots of messy cake after I left. :)

Mama & Dad thanks again for having me in to capture your little man’s first year. It has been a pleasure working with you all, and seeing how the little guy grows. You all are such a lovely family, I look forward to seeing you all for many years to come.

All grown up… the W family

Mothers love photographs, it is that simple.

You give a mother a beautiful photo of her child and she will keep it forever.

There is something so tangible about a photo of your child, weather all grown up or still in pigtails we love them. How many of us grow up, leave home, and have mothers back at home still asking for photos? I know my mother still bugs me for photos and I have the most photographed families I know! But then again as a mother, I can understand the feeling. I cherish each and every one of the images of my little girl. Poor baby boy has no idea what he is getting into.

So, I think it is absolutely lovely when those grown up kids hire me to take photos for their mothers. Erin contacted me a few months back about putting a photo session together for herself, brother & mom.  She and I know each other from Portland State University years back. She wanted to create some photos for her mother of the whole family. Seems mom had been asking for a few years and now was the time to make it happen. Erin lives on the east coast and is only in town to visit a few times a year.

We headed out to the Hawthorne district of Portland shortly before Christmas and had a great time running around & taking photos.

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

Check out our stylish family.

baby brother looking all handsome

big sister looking all beautiful and east coast stylish.

and mom with her beautiful smile.

our super stylish family looking all lovely. It was nice of them to coordinate with the cool mural we found right!

this might be my favorite of Erin & Spencer. I loved catching their reflection in the glass & the city scene.

we also had some silliness while we shot.

and my favorite of the whole family from our afternoon. They really are so lovely together. :)

Erin thanks for contacting me to set up the session. It was great to see you again and meet your family. I am so glad the timing & weather worked our in our favor! I hope you like the peek. I will have the whole gallery up for you very soon. :)

GIVING is AWESOME 2009 edition

givingisawesome900x100

Remember that crazy Giving is Awesome thing that I did last year? I was not alone, photographers from all over the US participated and made some lovely families very happy.

I posted about it here, and here. I also posted about the wonderful winner & her adorable family here.

bluewallkiddo

(check out my adorable 2008 winners)

Well it is that time of year again so lets start it up again shall we kids.

You know someone.

You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $1000 worth, to be exact.  It’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season. The winner will receive a full session, CD with printing rights, a custom coffee table book & a large wall print. Pretty sweet huh!

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a $200 print credit. What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside in the Portland/Salem metro area. Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* The session must take place in January 2009 or early spring. The offer expires July 1, 2009 if not used.

* You must e-mail me the full story : emily (at) emilygphotography.com

* Nominations must be to me by 5pm on December 23rd for consideration.

The winner will be announced on Christmas Eve — get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,
