when yard games and love collide… (Liv & Alan’s sneak peek)

I have known Liv for, what, over 10 years now. She is quite simply one of the most rocken ladies I have ever had the pleasure of calling a friend. Liv has worked in the domestic violence movement for many years and is such an inspiration. She is loud and animated, well like me! No wonder we get along so well. I just adore her, so when she told me she was engaged I knew I just had to shoot her wedding.  When we finally met and I got to meet Alan our future groom I just adored him as well. These two are so sweet together, a perfect pair.  They met over the classic game bocce ball, and so we had to make it a part of our session. We met in the Northwest Park blocks of Portland and spent some time in the  neighborhood just laughing and taking photos.

Here are a few of my favorites so far:

    bocceset

I was laying in grass to get this one and was lucky not to be hit! Ahh the things I do for love. ;)

Livvie I love your smile. And of course your rocking ink!

Liv & Alan are also avid kick ball players, part of a local team I believe. How fun is that!

    sasssay!

I love me some run down buildings, just perfect to put a couple in love in front of!

    purple-set

such sweetness, I love how animated these two get around each other. This wedding is going to be so great to capture.

    *sigh* cuteness.

Liv & Alan I had a great time bopping around PDX with you two. And thanks for the Thai Ice Tea! Yumm. I can not wait for your wedding just around the corner. I hope you love these images as much as I do. And because miss Liv is one of my #1 gold star blog commenters I just have to offer a comment challenge. If you can get 30 people to comment on this post I will hook you up with an 11×14 of your choice for your home.  Personally I vote for the sassy kickball one, but I am bias! So get commenting kids!

    Sarah & Aaron are married!

I spent this last Saturday with the lovely and adorable Sarah & Aaron. We just saw these two lovebirds recently for their engagement session here on the blog, and now of course it is time for a peek at the main event. Sarah & Aaron’s wedding was fantastic in every way, full of fun and family. It is always fun to shoot a wedding where I have friend & family ties. It was also a treat to shoot in my little home town!  The Grooms  family was hilarious and fun as always, these 7 brothers always have me laughing and feeling like part of the family.  Sarah’s family was also completely adorable and welcoming, she has some wonderful sisters for sure! I had a marvelous time capturing the big day for these two.

I could go on and on about how great these two are, but  lets get on to some photos shall we. Here is just a peek into the first part of Sarah & Aaron’s big day.

    dressset

Sarah’s dress was nothing short of stunning.

    gettingreadyher

Catching the girls getting ready was fun, Sarah is lucky enough to have two older sisters that are super talented beauticians from California.  By photo time they had everyone looking absolutely fabulous.

    beautifulher

our beautiful bride, she is just glowing here right.

    gettingreadyhim

and our dashing groom. The boys “getting ready” area was a bit louder with the foosball table and young ones hanging out.

    dashingroom

Aaron looked so handsom all clean shaven and dressed up.

    all the lovely ladies.

Miss Sarah perfect and poised just a few moments before she walked down the aisle.

    boys-party

The boys, yes all the tall ones are the infamous “Olson Brothers”. They are just great people, I feel so lucky to call them extended family. :)

Here’s one more of our groom, and his great smile. I think he was thinking of his beautiful bride here.

I will have more soon, we still have the ceremony, portraits and reception to get to! I will have to break it up into a few posts for sure, too much fun stuff to share. Sarah, Aaron & families, you all were absolutely wonderful. I had a great time with every one of you. Thank you for having me be a part of your special day. I will have lots more to show you very soon!

    samples & examples

    Happy Monday folks!

This is just a quick post to showcase a few items I offer my clients. A few of you out there are in the decision making process and had questions, I hope this helps!

Since the beginning of 2009 I have changed my portrait collections to be a bit more digital and a bit less print oriented, I will sell ala carte prints don’t get me wrong, I just love my family & portrait clients to have the whole CD so that is where I offer the best deals. This is the general rule with two notable exceptions. I still offer and adore selling books & canvas.  Coffee table books and canvas are two creative and beautiful ways to showcase your custom photography art.

Canvases are stunning, there is no getting around it. It takes your family photos and really finishes them as fine art. The photo is printed on canvas and mounted over stretcher bars just like fine art canvas you would see in a gallery. The company I use coats and protects all of the canvases so they will actually last longer than a regular print. I have quite a few canvases hanging in my home and plans for more once we move.

    Here are some sample images:

*please keep in mind I am not a product photographer* :)

    redcanvaswall

This one seems like it was taken a million years ago, it’s my sweet little redhead. This is a 16×20 canvas, it hangs in the entry way of my home. We chose to pair it with some of her art, also on canvas. Here you can see that the image is wrapped around the corner of the bars. My Printer can also add a black or white boarder, but personally I love the photo wrap.

    canvas2

Here we have a client canvas I delivered a few months ago. This family went for a 30×36 canvas. It was beautiful! I took a few snaps before wrapping it up for delivery, stupidly I did not take it out of the plastic wrap, gah. The 30×36 was perfect for hanging over their mantle, in the living room. We also did this muted color tone to go with the colors of their home. It turned out so well I wanted to keep it! In the close up you can see the texture of the canvas in the little girls face.

When choosing to go canvas it is honestly an investment, these works of art are more expensive than other large prints, but very worth it in the end in my option. It is for this reason I am happy to do home consults for people considering canvases.  I come by your home with a few samples and my measuring tape and we work out the best display options together. I want to make sure people are 100% happy with the results.

And now on to the books!

    book-collage

the book pictured above is a sample album for a local floral shop I worked with. This is a typical coffee table book, with a special leather cover. I loved the way it came out.  They are all professionally printed and bound. As a graphic designer by trade I love putting these together. I offer leather, photo, cloth and even metallic covers. These books can be as modern or classic as you like. And of course I let all my clients peek at the books before they go to print to make sure they are absolutely perfect.

    bookinsideout

This book is a sample newborn book I just adore. Mom and dad wanted to capture these early moments to remember for all time. I love the little wrinkles and toes of a newborn baby, a coffee table book or album is the perfect way to display these all in one place.

Both Canvases and Albums are great ways to showcase your photos for your home or to give as gifts. If you would like to see examples in person I am happy to offer in home consultations for my clients. Feel free to call or email me to set one up any time.

Lots more coming on the blog this week, I had a beautiful weekend full of weddings and engagement sessions. Check back to see more very soon!
