Small town fun with Sarah & Aaron

Sarah, Aaron & I met up this weekend and shot some fun romantic photos in the little farm town of St. Paul, Oregon. I have already posted one, but of course had to come back for a full peek. We had fun running around the town and being goofy, and taking some great photos if I do say so my self. I loved the old farm town setting of St. Paul and have been dying to take a couple out there. I tried my best to get my kacy jo style on and capture the rustic setting.

Full disclosure here, the handsome young man in the following photos is an extended family member of mine. Aaron is my brother-in-laws baby brother (say that 5 times fast!) and I have known him for years. He comes from a family of 7 very  tall, very sweet boys that I just adore, so I am bias but I think he is going to make such a dashing groom. Sarah might also look familiar to some of my regular blog readers, she has been here before! She did a beautiful job modeling for me during our Sweet Nellies shoot earlier in the year. She is also a sweet heart, I can not wait to shoot their wedding this weekend! These two are just so lovely together, and great in front of the camera.

Here are a few of my favorites so far from our engagement session over the weekend:

they are just so sweet together.

St. Paul had so many cool run down buildings, I had been eyeing for a while. Sadly they were, really rustic aka messy and sometimes gross, thanks for being hardcore and tuffing it out guys!

we even found a pop of color, and check it out we even hooked up the Newberg HS colors. ;)

Aaron’s big smile here kills me! Their wedding is going to be a fun one for sure.

Sarah & Aaron were great about trusting me with the session. I LOVE that in a client.  If you let your photographer have the room to be creative, you will end up with better results trust me on this one. I got a little artsy here. I have seen this done by other photographers before and had to try it. I think it turned out pretty cool.

One of the biggest reasons we were all the way out in St. Paul were these huge beautiful fields of crimson clover. I wanted to get them out in the field, but once we got close we noticed those cute little boxes were buzzing. Uh yeah bee hives hello! So we played it safe and took a few on the road in the beautiful sun bathed light.

and here… is my favorite. I love some many things about this photo. I love the light, the color, the way they are nestled together so perfectly. Even the way the sun gives Sarah a bit of a halo. Sometimes you take a photo, and even in the camera you just know you are going to love it, *sigh* yes these are the reasons I love my job. :)

Sarah & Aaron thank you so much for tromping around with me for a few hours to take some rad photos. I love you are as happy with them as I am. I can not WAIT until your wedding, hello tomorrow! It is going to be absolutely fabulous.  I will see you both very soon, enjoy your last night before saying “I do”!

Bryn & Scott = Super Cuteness

I clicked with Bryn & Scott from the get go, I just knew I had to shoot their wedding after our first meeting. Scott is a student of environmental studies, and Bryn spends her days helping foster kids of Oregon.  They had such sweet things to say about my work, and even had kind words about my efforts with the Heart Gallery of Oregon! Both super sweet and mellow, they were planning a laid back but elegant wedding that sounded so fun to be a part of. Oh and to top it off their wedding location is one of the most picturesque venues in Oregon.  When they contacted me to book I was stoked to be a part of their big day. This past weekend we met up again in Northwest Portland to shoot some fun engagement photos. We had a blast picking fun spots, sharing a few laughs and enjoying a few pints of great local micro brews.

It was a terrible task picking just a few for the peek, so here is what I got it weeded down two. Lots more to come!

they are so cute, and Scott I mean that in the manliest way possible. ;)

(a couple regular readers of mine *ahem sister in laws* might recognize this particular purple wall.)

though they were originally nervous about being in front of the camera after a little bit,(and a delicious pint) they warmed right up and were awesome in front of my camera.

I love this green wall, but to get the right angle I had to lay in the cement, hardcore I know. Not only did my gear almost get run over by some crazy old guy, I got up with tiny rocks all stuck to my face. I apparently was so into what I had just shot that I got a whole block away before Bryn was kind enough to point out I had crap all over my cheek.  I felt just a bit silly, but I think the photos are worth it!

They are just so sweet together, I can not wait till the wedding later in the summer!

Bryn & Scott thanks again for spending a warm evening with me tromping around the Pearl! I had a great time getting to know you both better. I can already tell your wedding is going to be fantastic! And of course I know you are looking forward to setting up the new place this summer, so to help you out I will hook up a little comment challenge. If you can get 25 people to comment on this post I will cover an 11×14 wall print on the house! So leave some love people, these two are totally worth it.

warning, may induce sugar shock. {family & baby sneak peek}

I have an amazing job, I do, true story. I get to hang out with people during the happiest times of their lives, celebrating weddings and babies, it rocks. In my job I  meet allot of adorable kiddos, but I have to warn you this next baby won me over big time. Little baby N is so stinken sweet I wanted to eat her up. Her sparkly baby blues, her perfectly pink cheeks, and those chubby legs, gah so cute! The whole family was so adorable and accommodating, I could have hung out all day. I had an insanely hard time choosing photos for this peek so I hope you are comfortable it is going to be a long one!

So with out with out further ado, here are some of my favs so far:

M thank you so much for having me into your home to capture your beautiful family. Your little girl is just divine, I hope you love these as much as I do. I have so many more to show you, and soon! Your home was perfect to shoot it, and you guys were so sweet to work with all of our schedules to make it all work. I had a blast.  And of course I have to hook up the comment challenge, if you can get 25 people to comment on this blog post (yes you can comment too!) I will throw in a cute little wallet album perfect for showing off that sweet little girl of yours. I will have the whole set for you soon.

family date May 2009

With our busy schedules this time of year the emily g family is trying to make a point to fit “family dates” into the mix.  This so no small feat with work, shooting, and nap schedules but this weekend we had GREAT success. We grabbed the kiddo, the back up camera, and some sunscreen and headed down to the Portland Rose Festival. While I am usually weary of carnies and parking lot food we had a blast. They had tons of great stuff to look at (and photograph), rides suitable for an average height almost 4 year old, and most importantly cotton candy. We were only there for about 2 hours, but it was the perfect amount of time to get our family date on.

Here are some silly images from our little adventure:

us

check out our matching chuck taylors, yep that’s how we roll. ;)

We had way too much fun with the photo booths there as well, even if we all look evil in the resulting images.

happymoments

in the middle you can see the red head’s “motorcycle face”. She kills me, she was so excited every time we got to a ride she was actually tall enough for.

and on the far right check it out! It is the illusive husband, he is actually in this posting twice. I was teased recently by a colleague about how he is not on facebook and not visible on the blog, so here ya go! Handsome devil isn’t he. ;)

mishmash

The kiddo loved all the sites & sounds. She also scored a new “baby” that she promptly named, get this, Christina Agulara! No clue where that came from, totally had the husby and I in tears laughing about it.

oh and in case you want to know, I rock at skee ball.

oh-the-drama

oh the drama, her little face is so expressive.  I am pretty sure she was begging for cotton candy here!

All in all we had a fantastic family date. If you are in PDX I highly recommend an evening at the Rose Festival, just a few hours is fun and highly entertaining.

Lots more coming on the blog this week, beautiful babies, cute couples and more. Check back!
