    Rock & Roll Flattery

    rocknrollbanner

It’s no secret I love me some wedding blogs. It is always fun to get inspiration from others work in the industry and see what other folks are doing. That and well, it’s true I am a geek for weddings, this is why I love my job so very much! One of my favorite blogs has go to be The Rock ‘n Roll Bride. Kat the main blog diva is smart, funny and knows how to rock the wedding trends. I was super flattered when she chose to showcase some of my recent work! I have blogged Jarett & Julies wedding like crazy I know, but I just had to gush a little when others liked it as much as I did!

    Whitney & Michael’s amazingly beautiful downtown wedding. {1 of 2}

You might remember Whitney & Michael from their fun and romantic engagement session earlier in the month. I also posted a quick teaser a few weeks ago but now I am back with a full on post full of fun images from their big day. The event was over the top beautiful. Held and the fantastic Benson Hotel it was all about downtown elegance.  Every little detail was well though out and beautiful. I had a wonderful time and was so happy to come out with some great images. You can tell it was a great wedding when you can not wait to edit and start working on the album!

Here are a few of my favorites from the first part of our day.

    dress

Whitney’s dress was elegant and gorgeous. Just like our bride!

    untitled-12

Whitney was the perfect bride, calm elegant and beautiful. She almost made my job too easy.

Michael was also a fabulous groom to work with.  Super laid back. I got reports from my lovely Second Shooter for this wedding (the lovely and talented Jen) that the boys were great and a bit of a crack up.

She had a rough job hanging out with smart and handsome doctors all afternoon. ;)

    girls

The girls were also fantastic.  Every one beautiful and witty.  Most of the girls met in dental school and own their own successful practices so you know they are on top of it all.  :)

After everyone was primped & pressed we set up a first look outside the beautiful hotel.

I can not tell you how lucky we were to get such great weather in the beginning of April.  Michael & Whitney were absolutely visions, and a joy to photograph.

I had a wonderful time, just look at these two! As usual I have far too many for one post, I will be back with more later. I am thinking a slide-show is in order too! If you would like to see the full gallery when it is ready leave a comment below so I can capture your email and notify you when it is all ready to go.

Whitney & Micheal I had a great time getting to know you and your whole family at the wedding. Thanks again for choosing me to be a part of your special day. I will have much more for you very soon! I have some great stuff from your ceremony, great details and even more downtown portraits to come. I can not wait to get working on your album.

I could not be more proud of my baby sister if I tried

Ok quick break from fun wedding images and cute kiddos for a moment. Sorry but I feel the need to gush about my baby sister for a moment.

She is amazing, it is that simple. Years back she decided she loved singing and since then she has been working her way through undergraduate and now graduate music school. She does classical voice work and girl will melt you with her voice. I have had the pleasure of hearing her a few times, but this weekend was extra special. The cute redhead and I traveled down to Eugene for Kate’s senior recital at the University of Oregon’s School of dance & music.

she killed it, I had goosebumps people.  I mean even the almost 4 year old sat through the whole thing!

Of course I brought the camera and snapped a few during the show.

she is amazing did I mention that?

After the recital there was a quick reception. Of course with camera in hand I had to drag her into the hallway with some good light and get her all dressed up.

I mean come one she looked amazing! Us Garrick girls do not get dressed up that often so when it happens you have to capture it.

    laughset

    she is just so beautiful.

    thesetwothatilove

Of course I had to get one of my two favorite girls together. This melts me.

And being a big sister I just HAD to post a dorky one. I have gushed enough to get away with this right? Because THIS is the real little sister I know and love.

Kate thanks for letting me torture you with my camera yet again, you were amazing! I love you oodles and oodles and could not be more proud!

More cute babies and weddings soon I promise. Thanks for letting me gush. :)

Matt & Meghan are FUN! {Portland Oregon Wedding Photography)

No really they are, and that might even be an understatement! I met this lovely couple a last year in their search for a wedding photographer, Meghan and I both showed up to the coffee shop early so we got a chance to chat before Matt showed up. We laughed and giggled like old friends, by the time Matt came to meet us I knew I just had to do their wedding.  Well after months of planning, sickness, rainy days and scheduling conflicts we finally met up again for engagement photos. And yes I will say it again, these two are FUN! Their wedding has a bridge theme so we met at the beautiful Cathedral Park in the St. John’s area of North Portland. We had a blast, we laughed we giggled, we talked about poop jokes, it was great!

It was very very hard to choose, but here are a few of my favs so far. Be warned there are allot of them!

    yellowwall

We started with the whole family, their little lab girl was such a cutie! And this yellow wall was perfect with Matt’s favorite collage jacket. It’s Go Huskies right? Gah I am so bad about remembering teams.

    doggyset

Did I mention the cute pup? She was such a sweet girl, and only licked my lens once!

    bwbridgeset

Once we got a few with the sweet doggy we got under the bridge to get some of that cool architecture. I just love the view here, and I can still hear Meghan’s cute laugh!

Some couples have to take a little time to warm up, not these two, they were so great in front of my camera!

    iheartyouset

no we did not graffiti the park, but yes we did use it, how perfect right.

    yellowbush

They are just so cute together.

    greengrassup

I absolutely love this one, I think it would look great printed super large!

    framedingreen

you can not tell here but Meghan is about to bust up here :)

    sillyset

and speaking of busting up, oh my dog these two had me in stitches! the scene on the left is what they call “Surfing Meghan” I believe. They bust out that move at weddings I hear, I am so hoping to get that one on their big day again. Can you imagine!M&M get ready!

Guys I had an absolutely fabulous time with the two of you. I will have the whole set for you soon, and we can get started on that sign in book of yours! Thanks again for being so fun! I even have a little blog challenge for you. If you can get 3o people to comment on this post I will give you a 11×14 wall print on me. I just know people have stuff to say about those fish faces, so get commenting people!

Happy Monday, with a side of cute red head

    Whew what a weekend!

On Friday I madly packed up my suitcase and headed up to Seattle for an over the top amazing photographers conference. With all the sickness in our house as of late I was not sure if I could swing it, but I am SO very glad I went. It was a weekend, of learning, spending time with friends and meeting new ones. It is always so lovely to be surrounded by other people who share your passion. I came home physically tired from some long days, but my creative batteries are charged! I got to shoot and spend time with several of the countries top wedding & portrait photographers, it was so humbling but wonderful. I am always so impressed with people that are at the top of their game, and willing to give up their valuable time to teach others. Photography can be such an amazing community of creative people. I will have some fun photos from the shoot outings I am sure, but none ready for sharing yet. For right now I have a to do list a mile long, an email in box full to the brim and lots and lots of laundry!

So for now I will just share some images I took of my sweet girl before I left. While it was an amazing weekend I could not wait to get home to her. I am sure any parents reading this know the feeling, after being gone there is just nothing better than that first hug and smooch.

    springgirlsetblog

Oh how I adore my goofy little girl and her goofy smile.

Happy Monday to you all! I hope all you locals are enjoying the amazing weather we are having!

    Much more soon,
