    yet another beautiful Portland area wedding. {wedding sneak peek}

    Oh what to say about the wonderful couple of Chad and Sara? Such a sweet couple. I enjoyed their wedding from beginning to end. It was a beautiful day, at a wonderful location. Sara’s family has a Christmas tree farm just north of Vancouver, Washington. The weather was perfect, not too hot or cold. The wedding was fabulous down to the last cupcake.  Here are a few of my favorites from the day.

    A very kind family friend let us borrow this amazing vintage Chevy for the group shots. How rad is that!

    Just look at these two, so beautiful!

    We also spent some time in the Christmas Trees, you know it is a family field you have to love that!

    Chad and Sara you two are so great. I hope you have an amazing time in Jamaica! Thank you again for letting me be a part of your amazing day.

    Popping in and out {emily g Portland Oregon Photographer}

    (my little red haired cookie monster mid giggle)

    Hello to all my wonderful clients and even you blog stalkers out there!

    This is just a quick post to let you know I have been a bit out of the communications loop in the last week. My computer contracted a particularly nasty virus and poor thing had to be wiped clean. This is the reason I back up all of my work to external hard drives and dvds the second I walk through my door after a shoot and again when I finish a gallery. Ahhh the joys of working in the digital age. So thanks to some amazing and computer geeky friends of mine I am back up and running full steam ahead. If you have emailed me in the last few days and not heard back I sincerely apologize. I am trying to catch up now, but you might just try again if you get the chance.

    I am taking off shortly for the Oregon coast to celebrate my fantastic father in law’s 60th birthday. And then home Sunday to shoot a super fun wedding. Busy busy summer around here. If anyone is still wanting to do photos this summer my schedule is starting to fill up, but I do have a bit more room. Contact me today.  I am still looking for a few fun new locations you know. I hope you all are enjoying the hot days and cool nights!

    Soon to be Mr & Mrs! {e session sneak peek}

    In 2 short weeks these two love birds will be tying the knot, and I for one am super excited about the wedding. I met up with Catherine and Ken at a beautiful little park in Milwaukee Oregon for a quick engagement session and had a great time getting to know them. These two are so in love there is no hiding it, they were a joy to photography. Here a few quick favorites from our evening together.

    Before we headed out to the park we got a few with the baby of the house. Yeah this baby was bigger than I was, but man he is such a love!

    Catherine and Kenny were so sweet and affectionate, all I had to do was stand back and snap away as they looked cute. Their love is so clear here.

    Kenny also had a great eye for locations! Check out this great bridge.

    Catherine and Ken I had a great time with you both this weekend. I can not wait for you wedding in a few weeks. I know it will be wonderful just like the two of you. I know you both have lots to do before the big day, including move into a new house! How about I help you decorate your walls. If you can get 20 people to comment on this post below (click “post a  comment” down a bit) I will gift you a 10×13 wall hanging print to help make your new house a home. :)

    See you all very soon!

    Location, Location, Location

    A little over a month ago I had the pleasure of attending a get together with some other Portland area Children’s Photographers. Fun ladies for sure. We all belong to the same photography forum and try to help each other our from time to time. I just love working with other photographers. I think it is the best way to learn and stretch my self as an artist to be surrounded by so many creative people.

    So in the beginning of June we trekked out to a random location one of the ladies knew of and took some really fun photos.

    This location is not your normal family setting. I just love all the graffiti and wild colors. I am pretty sure all the skater kids that usually rule the area thought we were all crazy taking our small children out there. But we are all geeks that love to find those out there crazy places, even if we do have to dodge skate boards and construction to get the shot.

    No really here are a few of me in action another photographer friend took of me.

    I am not sure if this is a location I would take a client to, as it is pretty rough but I do LOVE the non traditional. If you or someone you know is looking for some FUN and non traditional family or kids portraits call me soon. My summer schedule is starting to fill up, but I am always up for that next cool location. As a Family and Kids photographer in the Portland area I know there are even more great spots out there. If you have a great spot let me know! If it is really great I might even throw in a free 10×13 with a booked session to the client (new or returning) who lets me in on the secret. It does not have to be a graffiti covered wall, it can be a cool mural in a back ally, a building with some great stained glass, or even a over look of the perfect view of a city. So email or call me today, if I love the location it just might be the back drop of your next wall hanging! Happy location hunting!

    Happy Strappy {Photography Geekyness}

    We are deep into the busy season here at emily g photography and it has been great. I have loved meeting all the new little ones and witnessing some amazing weddings. Every once in a while a photographer has to splurge a little and get something pretty. I usually stash my earnings away for sparkly new lenses or other photography equipment but at a photographer gathering the other day I noticed a photography accessory I just had to have.

    Check out my new camera strap!

    I know I am a nerd but little things like this make me happy! Amy Priddy of Priddy creations is fantastic! you can find her super fun camera straps here on etsy.com, or on her blog here. I did asked for a custom design to work with my business colors and she gave me loads of great choices! The camera strap cover is padded and I know it will come in handy during a long day of shooting. I can not wait to try it out this weekend with my back to back wedding and engagement session. I can not say enough nice things about Amy and my new comfy strap. If you visit her site let her know who sent you. :)

    Have a great day guys!
